Reeder Racer

Painted on a mid-century green writing-practice chalkboard I found locally, this piece uses the board’s original grid as a technical precise, but aged, backdrop. An exaggerated rider is built up with tone-on-tone colored pencil, subtle white highlights, and gouache. This was my first time working with gouache, and it immediately changed how I think about layering and control—faster, cleaner, and more responsive than acrylic.
