No Chance

This piece started as a very old Japanese pachinko machine, given to me by a friend. A game built on gravity, noise, and tiny decisions you don’t really control.

I pulled out the original acrylic panel and replaced it with glass, then ported my digitally-born illustration into stencil for perfect proportion transfer—cutting, painting, scratching, adjusting, figuring it out as I went. A mix of planning and improv. A lot of learning mid-process.

The machine still carries its original logic, and it actually works (needs some TLC, but comes with hundreds of ball bearings ready for you to figure it out). Like all luck games, you can feel the hope that something might happen if you try one more time. But of course, it's designed to work against you.

Working on glass changed how I think about surface and depth, and I didn’t expect to enjoy it as much as I did.

I’m already looking for the next piece of glass to paint on.

May the odds be ever in your favor.

NOTE: This one's super heavy, so local pickup in Boise only.
