Idea Tester
This vintage machine was built to test vacuum tubes. I don’t know exactly how it does that, and I didn’t bother learning. The machine caught my attention with all of its plugs, buttons, and switches.
Since I know little about electronics, I imagined other purposes. What if it wasn’t for components at all. What if it was a machine that tested ideas?
What if you held a diode, or touched a lead, or flipped a switch while thinking about something you’re unsure about, and the machine responded. Not with language. Just a needle. A light. Just enough to build or destroy confidence.
I like the idea of a device that offers certainty without justification. It's a magic 8-ball. Something that looks scientific enough to trust, even if it’s completely imaginary. This isn’t about how the machine really works. It’s about remembering how to play.
